Since launching in 2018, the Epic Games Store has consistently released titles for free. Provided someone creates an account on the store, they will be able to add these discounted games to their library during a small window of time. From that point on, the account holder can play these games indefinitely. Although not completely opposed to the idea of changing its schedule, at the moment, the Epic Games Store releases a new free game every week, usually on Thursday.

The attention is usually well-deserved, as these veiled titles often turn out to be massive hits, although they are usually mixed in with plenty of indie darlings. Similarly, the free games on Epic Games Store every week raise a substantial amount of hype.

The Epic Games Store’s free game for this week is a relatively big deal, or it at least seemed like that for a hot minute in February 2024. Nightingale is one of those projects that explode into the scene with a lot of excitement and big promises, only to slip into the backdrop as it was drowned out by bigger games that also offered open-worlds with deep crafting systems and co-op.
Now, that’s not to say Nightgale has nothing to offer, as it is a pretty game, with a cool setting, fun weaponry, and a recently rebuilt realm that offers new beginnings. If you have never given this a try, this might be the best opportunity to jump in.
